The blue Pacific, swaying palms beneath snow-capped peaks, fish tacos and vegan pizzas....and Sacramento swine.

Yep, the Pigs on the Animal Farm are at it again. After we, the proles, just sent a resounding and unmistakable message to Sacramento---informing them that their $40 billion shell game is no longer an acceptable form of doing the state's business---one of the state machine's mouthpieces had this to say:
Press Enterprise 5/21
Leaders pledge deep cuts
Assembly speaker Karen Bass and Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, who backed the propositions along with Scwharzenegger, said voters are facing layoffs and other economic challenges and resented being asked to vote on complicated propositions. (italics mine) "They pushed back and said, 'Don't bring this to our doorstep. You solve the problem,'" Steinberg, D-Sacramento, said. "We'll do our best to try to bring all the various pieces together and live to fight another day." (italics mine)

Translation? These stupid Californians couldn't understand our quantum economics if we drew it out on a chalkboard for them...so now we're stuck with making a few meaningless cuts....and borrowing astronomical sums, just to cover our debt service. But, don't worry, Kali's, it'll back to politics-as-usual before long....we're not about to let you steal our hard-earned raises!

The not-so-funny part about it is that these idiots really do believe that "compromise" is the answer. Alas, their idea of compromise is something akin to say, Bernie Madoff's investment strategies....only worse. Bernie didn't actually steal his customer's great-great-grandchildren's earnings.

So, Speaker Bass, please let's be completely clear about what the California voters actually said. We said....
a) We are done spending more than you are able to steal from us in taxes.
b) We are done with the perpetually shifting shell-game that defines Sacramento politics.
c) We are done with teachers unions, cops/prison guards unions, and other publically-funded special interests calling the shots.
d) We are done with providing jobs and pensions for bureaucrats whose main goal in life seems to be protecting their own, and creating yet more, worthless bureaucratic jobs and pensions.
e) We're done with paying for the governor (and god-only-knows how many others) to jet around the world on the public's dime.
f) We're done building $100 million high schools, libraries, and everything else the state believes it has some sort of god-given mandate to build.
g) Lastly, we're done approving stupid, ill-conceived, patently ludicrous schemes to save our state govt.

Indeed, it sounded much less like the voters said "...we don't wanna deal with it," and much more like they said, "...let's just strangle the state govt....anything would be better than what we now have."

Jefferson

Ronny Scores Again; Palmer Bogeys

It appears that there may be a single lone voice of sanity in congress these days. And he proved it again when he said no to...get this....a (gold) Medal of Honor for none other than ARNOLD PALMER!

Oh, you think, they must be talking about another Arnold Palmer...some hero of our empire's war machine...maybe some atomized Astronaut...for they couldn't POSSIBLY be thinking of using real gold and us poor innocent taxslaves' dollars to pay for some ridiculous little sparkly trinket....for a golfer!

Well, sorry to say, it's true. You hit the nail on the head. Out of the 435 members of the US House of Representatives, Ron Paul was THE ONLY person to say, "Whoa! Whoa there, fellas and fellatios, I can't seem to find this whole gold-medal-trinket manufacturing scheme in our job description." (paraphrased, of course)

But, alas, lest the dear reader think the good doctor Paul just isnt' a golf fan, here's Ron's actual words....re. the exact same issue, but with one minor difference: the House was trying to do the same thing for one of Ron's heroes, Ronny StarWars Reagan:

"I must, however, oppose the Gold Medal for Ronald and Nancy Reagan because appropriating $30,000 of taxpayer money is neither constitutional nor, in the spirit of Ronald Reagan's notion of the proper, limited role for the federal government."

"Because of my continuing and uncompromising opposition to appropriations not authorized within the enumerated powers of the Constitution, I would maintain my resolve and commitment to the Constitution--a Constitution, which only last year, each Member of Congress, swore to uphold. In each of these instances, I offered to do a little more than uphold my constitutional oath." (that is SO studly...GO Ron)

The he doubles down. (I can just see him twiddling the tiny china cup, ala Doc Holiday)

"In fact," continues Ron, "as a means of demonstrating my personal regard and enthusiasm for Ronald Reagan's advocacy for limited government, I invited each of these colleagues to match my private, personal contribution of $100 which, if accepted by the 435 Members of the House of Representatives, would more than satisfy the $30,000 cost necessary to mint and award a gold medal to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. To me, it seemed a particularly good opportunity to demonstrate one's genuine convictions by spending one's own money rather that of the taxpayers who remain free to contribute, at their own discretion, to commemorate the work of the Reagans (Too-fucking-SHAY! Ron!) For the record, not a single Representative who solicited my support for spending taxpayer's money, was willing to contribute their own money to demonstrate their generosity and allegiance to the Reagan's stated convictions."

And, regarding Sir Whack-a-ball, Ron's spokesthing makes clear, “It is certainly nothing personal against Mr. Palmer. In fact, Congressman Paul admires him greatly. Dr. Paul opposes using public monies for any and all of these gold medals given to private citizens (too bad he can't go a bit further and ban the pathetic hero-worship altogether...one step at a time, I guess) , just on principle. Not to mention, it is unconstitutional to use taxpayer dollars in this way. He even suggested on the House Floor before he voted against Rosa Parks’s medal that if it meant so much to the Members of Congress, why not fund the award out of their own pockets? He pulled $100 out of his own wallet, but had no other takers. At a time like this when all budgets are stretched so thin, it seems especially inappropriate to lavish gifts like this on private citizens, as much as he may admire the individual.”

No matter, (yawn) the mini-abomination passed nearly-unanimously, anyway.... 431-to-1

By the way....the bill authorized spending $30,000 to make the medal and duplicates, which could be sold to cover the cost of making Palmer’s medal in the first place. (nice touch here....now the coin dealers have to compete with the feds in the marketplace, too)

....and all this at a critically dangerous point in our history....when the politicoscum should be on a spending lockdown

Molon labe!

A plug for drugs

It's a sad day indeed, when our backs are against the wall to the point that we (theoretically-free Americans) are forced beg the mercy of FedGov and submit to the fleecing of the medical industry. And what is this right we're down on our knees begging for?....the right to protect our family by any means necessary?...the right to move about freely in our own country?....the right to competent, ethical, logical representation in congress?Nein. None of the above. The issue which has brought millions of otherwise law-abiding Americans to their begging knees is the simple, seemingly no-brainer right to enjoy the exact same pleasure that the rest of our compatriots enjoy...every time they crack open their favorite microbrew or any other federally-sanctioned intoxicant. I've yet to hear a single logical argument---which might be able to persuade, say, your garden-variety junior higher—at least one with a minimum of critical-thinking skills—on just exactly how it is that, while liquor is completely legal in all 50 states, sparking up a joint can, in the wrong scenario, land you in state or fed prison....for years.

This sad situation is the result of an unholy alliance between the Religious Right (RR), the "health care" industry (Pushers) and, of course, the law enforcement industry (Prison Industrial Complex, heretofore referenced as PrICs...or Pricks-In-Charge???), all of whom have banded together and bribed our federal keepers to keep the well-documented benefits of cannabis sativa out of reach of us proles.

The Religious Right: well, it's hard to fault these folks, not becuase they're not dead wrong, but because they've been bottle fed on a dogmatic dreck which places pot-smokers on level with witches, demons and child-molesters. It's like trying to judge an Iraqi youth for hating Americans....a meaningless waste of time, not to mention ridiculous.

Pushers: again, it’s hard to fault the Health Care Industrial Complex, because, well, dammit!, they’ve got pills to sell to us. And who do we think we are, anyway?...self-prescribing dangerous chemicals to ourselves. I mean, do we really want a few million stumbling, drooling, knuckledragging Cretins, stoned out of their gourds, showing up at emergency rooms at all hours overdosed on cannabis?...cannabis of dubious origin!...cannabis on which NO TAX was even paid....cannabis which (brace yourself) these aforementioned drooling Cretins may even be using for reasons no more important than, say.....well....the same reasons your average housewife might just sit back and crack a Corona in the afternoon: relaxation!

Prison Industrial Complex: OK, these pricks are faultable. These guys and gals are, in large part (though not every one), little more than a macho labor union of ridiculously-overpaid and otherwise unemployable thugs! Thugs who, if they didn’t have their co-thugs to push around (and bet on in gladiator matches), well, they’d more than likely be beating up you and I.

Funny thing....you pour 220 pounds of automaton into a uniform, plug their blockhead into Kevlar helmet, add steroids, and then, whaddya know!, they get aggressive!? Who’da thunk?

I can't even imagine the joy their bosses must feel, not having to fight their own battles with all the various state and fed legislatures...all they have to do is sick the dogs, so to speak, on 'em. I can just hear it now... "'Cut back on prison building?' You can't be serious, Mr. Legislator! Don't even think about it! Of course, we (the PIC owners) agree with you, but the prison guard unions will cut you to pieces and leave you in bloody mess on the floor outside the state rotunda....out of a job."

Of course, for the same seemingly-Darwinian reasons of self-preservation, these uniformed, tax-funded thugs do have a compelling interest in keeping marijuana on the list of banned substances: Employment. Face it, what would we do with all these pissed off bullycrats. We’d probably be forced to start yet another war somewhere just so that we’ve got some place to ship them off to. Of course, the only place I can think of to send them, where they wouldn’t immediately overpower the locals and take over is Samoa.

Seriously, nobody enjoys a fight like them Samoans.

Somehow it seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals themselves any richer – except, of course, for the pigs and the dogs.
~ George Orwell, Animal Farm

Another brilliant effort to "reduce gun violence."

Database helps track gun violations
LAPD, state Justice Dept. have ID'd ex-convicts, others who illegally possess weapons.
By Jason Kandel, Staff writer
Article Launched: 12/09/2007 07:02:17 PM PST

Aided by a new database that matches criminal histories with gun owners, state and local law enforcement agents have begun rounding up California's most violent gun-toting felons.
The state Department of Justice and the LAPD have identified 110 fugitives, ex-convicts and other offenders who legally purchased guns, then later were convicted of violent crimes. Some 890 others have been identified across the state.

"Having armed, convicted felons is a risk to public safety," said Wilfredo Cid, the chief of the Bureau of Fireams at the California Attorney General's Office. "Those people do not have a right to carry a weapon."

Prior to the passage of the bill, the state did not have legal authority or technological means to cross-reference this information and investigate people who acquired firearms and subsequently became prohibited from owning them.

In July 2003, the department received more than $1 million to build the database, which ultimately cost a total of $4 million. It became operational in late 2006 and was made fully available to local law enforcement in June.........

The system works by maintaining information about people who have been - or will become - prohibited from possessing a firearm. From their stations, law enforcement agencies across the state can access the database, updated monthly.........

"We applaud the Department of Justice's efforts in ensuring that prohibited persons do not have firearms," Malte said. "This is huge. It is the ultimate law enforcement tool to ensure that criminals with guns are disarmed quickly before something bad happens."

(alas, the only common sense part of the whole article, below)

Chuck Michel, an attorney for the California Rifle and Pistol Association, said gun rights groups originally supported the creation of the program because it was designed to get guns out of the hands of violent criminals and felons.

"The CAPP program is good in theory," Michel said. "In practice, however, there are now so many complicated ways to lose your gun rights over paperwork and minor violations that many lawyers don't understand the system and many people don't even realize they're prohibited.
"Regrettably, CAPP is frequently being misused against these minor offenders who have often been misadvised about their legal status."
*********************************************

Classic Bureauspeak: "This is huge. It is the ultimate law enforcement tool to ensure that criminals with guns are disarmed quickly before something bad happens."..........assuming all these armed criminals are armed with weapons purchased by themselves.....which, of course, they surely are. Period. Guaranteed. It will, of course, like all viruses, plagues, epi- and pandemics, be periodically beaten down, limited or otherwise marginalized. Temporarily, at least. Indeed, Jefferson’s admonition, to water the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and (unfortunately) patriots, wasn’t merely a soundbyte. It was one of the clearest and most concise warnings to future generations ever uttered by a politician: Tyranny never dies.

Unfortunately, these hard-won victories of liberation—our American revolution being but one of thousands of other less well known de-tyrannization campaigns waged across the millennia by men and women sick to death of their tyrants—are immediately, ironically, and invariably co-opted by individuals and groups who seek to force their own tyrannical agendas down the throats of the very folks whose blood, sweat and tears put the new tyrants into their positions of power in the first place.

Yes, sadly, we sheep always seem to look not to the shepherds but to the wolves (usually wrapped in the freshly skinned hides of innocent lambs) after the battles of liberation are won. And, of course, these wolves immediately set about organizing, tagging, and, most importantly, disarming their sheep.

Why? For future consumption, of course. After all, no wolf in his right mind wants to raid a flock of sheep and suddenly hear the metallic chorus of bullets clacking into their chambers, stare down the barrel of millions of guns and into the grinning faces of their newly liberated lamb chops.

Ron Paul / Andrew Napolitano...for Emperor and Vice Emperor

Imagine what a future might be like with these two guys leading us out of our infernal police state. But, unfortunately, sadly, pathetically, embarrassingly, by and large, Americans are just too freaking lazy to give a damn, much less ride a bike.

And the few who do give a damn? Well, most of 'em are already riding bikes, walking, jogging, using public trans and driving their Priusses (Priuii?) to work.

The rest? They're still hurling their abuse (and their empty McCoffee cups, Big Gulps and beer cans) at us lycra-clad "faggot" cyclists for hogging "their" roads.

But, the REALLY sad part of this whole farce is that Americans really could make a huge dent in the so-called "energy crisis" by utilizing some EXTREMELY low-tech solutions, most of which are pretty much FREE.

However, as in all fantasies, there's an evil witch that just has to screw thing up. In this case it's the feds. You see, once the nanny-state bureaucrats (Democrats AND Republicans alike) get their claws into it, they'll regulate it (to death, if given the chance).

Pretty soon we'll be required to have a federal bicycle licensce; for two "obvious" reasons:

A) how else will they be able to give us our $20 dollar "tax break" unless they have some method of tracking our activity?;

and B) How else will Homeland Security be able to track the terrorists who ride bicycles in an effort to stay under the radar?

Of course, along with the federal bicycle license will be the requisite inspections, software upgrades, GPS tracking chips installed in the bottom bracket, retina-scanning I.D. locking mechanism (again, for DHS' war on terrorism), and the universe-only-knows what other ludicrous forms of regulation they'll cook up once they're up'n'running in the "War on Undocumented Cyclists."

(They won't call it a bicycle license, of course; it'll something catchier: a Two-Wheeled Adventure Pass!!, or some such politcobullshit designed to mask the simple, ugly reality that it just yet another tax)

That said....go ride your bike and pray the feds fail to get their toxic claws into one of the last vestiges of (relatively) unregulated activity in America.

Jefferson

THE AL GORE SHOW!

Well, the Al Gore show had another (astonishingly self-promotional) episode this weekend, in the form of Live Earth!, a collosal waste of precious non-renewable resources in the form of electricity, fossil-fuels, carbohydrates, H2O, etc---not to mention being a pathetic excuse for an even bigger, worldwide (captive) audience. Those lucky Nipponese even got to see a holographic version of America’s favorite runner-up---a new technology Al Gore has just invented.

It’s really hard to fathom the depth of worthlessness that could possess this guy to do ANYTHING, literally ANYTHING, in order to be able to believe that he is perceived as a political unit worth consideration.

The nadir of narcissism. What’s next? I predict he’ll make some claim to the US Constitution, maybe the concept of democracy, maybe Christianity itself. After all, he does appear to have the capacity to lay claim to virtually any concept, invention, movement known to man. Why not Christianity?

It could go like this:

(Al Gore enters, stage right, to standing ovation; camera pans the middle-class audience sprinkled with a demographically-correct amount of color)

"I know this might not be accepted by the ultra-right conservatives, but I’m here to tell y’all that I’m really Jesus. Well, actually I’m the end-times resurrection of Jesus Christ, born in 1940 as Allen Birdbrain Gore in a manger—that’s your garden-variety sheep feeder, for you city folks. We were poor.

"Here’s a picture of my original mother, Mary" (Vienna Boys choir sings Ave Maria in the background) "Her hands are bleeding—see, right here?—from the nails which were driven through my hands. Unfortunately I hadn’t yet invented photography, so all we have is portraits and statues of her. But I was able to control the artists’ creative thought process—a method I carried over to the internet, which Bill Gates stole from me and used to create MicroSoft.

"No, of course there’r no scars on my hands. This body your looking at isn’t the same one I was in back in Palestine—that’s what Iss-ray-ell was called back then, for those of you arm-chair theologians" (cut to chuckling yuppies in the audience). "She was a wonderful mother."

"Anyway the reason I’m coming out now about this, admittedly revolutionary, claim has nothing to do we with Al Gore, per se. No, I wouldn’t stoop to such self-promotion, of course not—shame on me if I was to do something so, so politically motivated. No, the reason for letting y’all in on my little secret is this: My father has instructed me to tell y’all that the end is near."

(collective murmur; camera pans to a picture of Billy Graham’s son nodding his approval; his name and relationship to his father flashes across the screen; then cut to quick clip of nuclear test explosions in the south Pacific; then cut to Japanese animation of a horrible beast eating Caucasian mothers and their babies; audience gasps).

"Now, lotsa y’all knew it was coming, but Daddy—that’d be Yahwew, to y’all, but I don’t suggest you call him that to his face" (audience chuckles) "—Daddy, he wanted me to give the good American people, since we are sorta the chosen people, kind of like the Iss-ray-ell-ites, to give y'all a heads-up. To give y'all the four-one-one." (camera shows a young black man and his oriental female mate, nodding their approval) "Of course he also told me that if America was to straighten up and fly right, that maybe, just maybe, if I—Al Gore—was willing to vouch for y'all and take the reins of this here runaway trainwreck, so to speak, which we’ve inherited from the current administration, that he’d probably be willing to put it all behind him. And maybe, just maybe, change his plans and just toss ol’ Bee-ellza-bub—a.k.a. Satan, the devil—right into that burning lake of fire and lock up those gates of hell for eternity." (show painting of Dante's inferno) "Yup, just skip all that horrible end-times stuff—murdering angles, plagues, Gigantor-like monsters, and all that stuff (flash montage of all the various end-times travesties) and go straight to that ol' lion layin' down with the lamb."

RON PAUL FOR EMPEROR! (of the universe!)

Hopefully, Ron Paul won't take umbrage at our endorsement. It's not like it matters anyway. I'm sure the Republicrat/Military Industrial Complex dynasty is hard at work on their Plan-B, just in case hell does actually freeze over and Ron Paul begins to get some serious traction with this blatantly unAmerican "constitutional nonsense." Seriously, though, in Ron Paul's America, the Bush administration (and pretty much the entire DC organized crime venture) would have to be locked up, the key thrown away.

So anyway, Ron, I humbly invite you to consider the GDQ as your Plan-B. Because when they do throw you under the bus, or overboard, (or tell you to kneel and put your hands behind your back while a black-hooded Cheney stands behind you with a Halliburton-supplied scimitar poised to lop off your traitorous head)---and you know they will, eventually, if there appears on the far horizon even a glimpse of a chance of a Ron Paul nomination---you'll need a place to run, and probably even hide for awhile. We're in a nice, quaint little desertish sort of town on the outskirts of a certain west coast megalopolis, and they'll never find you here.

We're nice folks. Really. Peace-loving. Non-interventionist in both foreign AND domestic matters. Misesian in theory and practice, i.e. we hate socialism in all its myriad forms. And we couldn't give a hoot what your thoughts are on abortion, since your literal interpretation of the constitution pretty much takes the fed out of that fight anyway. Don't ask/Don't tell. That's our official policy. On pretty much everything.

In short, you're our man, Ron! Hell, I'd almost pledge allegiance to a country Ron Paul could give his blessing to (that is, if I didn't consider it the height of lemmingism, the nadir of liberty, an insult to my very manhood, to be asked to stand and recite such blatant propaganda)

Jefferson

PS: Hang in there, Ron. Yet we don't even flinch when we hear that 30, or 50, or as yesterday, 120! innocent Iraqis are blown to smithereens, not to mention the other 50-or-so who died the same day...across town. Forget about the other 20,000 Iraqis, thousands upon thousands of whom are just as innocent as your average Virginia Tech sophomore. Such horrific numbers pale in comparison to say, Laker's stats, here in the land of peaceful abundance.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not callous with regards to the VT disaster. It has no doubt ruined more than a few lives, many more than were actually taken. Having known personal disaster first-hand, I feel deeply for the parents, brothers & sisters, lovers, friends and everyone else who lost people to the sick little punk. But are Iraqi lives---the lives of innocent women, children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, vegetable salesmen, letter carriers, policemen, barbers, homeless folks, grandmothers, etc, etc.---any less valuable than American's lives? Do they love any less passionately? Do their families and friends and lovers suffer any less miserably?

I doubt it.

GDQ welcomes ASSa9.com's new commentator

Evidently the guys over at ASSa9.com have a new "hired gun" writing their editorials. Unfortunately, though, from the looks of the writing, it sounds like he/she has yet to graduate from junior high---which takes alot of the fun out of writing for this blog. Sort of like "hunting" for noisy little cockatiels....with your sawed off 12 ga....five feet from the cage.

"Are we afraid of guns?" they ask, like some spastic little megaphone-wielding cheerleader. "A lot of gun guys seem to think so. But we're not. If we were afraid of firearms, we'd wear bulletproof armor all the time, and hesistate to step outside into open areas. If we were afraid of guns, we wouldn't be fighting against them-- we'd be running."

Seriously---it's verbatim.

Of course, just because they choose to hire children to write their editorials, that doesn't necessarily mean their fundamental ideology is awhack. So they make damn sure that we know that, Yes, their fundamentals are indeed awhack, and severly so. After a few words about the recent tragedies at our local schools, and nary a word of condolences to the families crushed by these horrible event, they propose that, obviously, the only possible way of dealing with this problem is to disarm everyone; which, as we all know, actually means disarm everyone except, alas, the crazies who really want to do harm to us and our children.

I really can't do this stuff justice; it speaks for itself. So let's just them dismantle their own argument.

"And yet one pro-gun legislator in Wisconsin has come up with a solution, crazy as it is: arm the teachers.
Sorry? We hire teachers to make our children better people, not shoot them."

Hey, ASSa9 guys, yoo hoo! Over here. Yeah, well, the concept behind arming teachers, or principles, or security guards, is to 1) create a deterrent, and 2) shoot the crazies, not the children.

But wait! There's more. The discombobulated rant stumbles forward:

"They" (btw: that would be you and I, Joe and Jenny Sixpack) "think the feds are out to get their guns, or the UN, or the ATF, or local sheriffs, or anyone else just around the corner!"

You know, ASSa9 guys, there is an argument to be made that all of the above (the possible exception being your local non-big-city sheriff) seem to be doing their utmost to disarm the population: 20,000 fed, state, local (unconstitutional) gun laws; the UN's relentless campaign to ban "small arms" for all non-govt personnel; certain ATF agent's harrassement of law-abiding gun-show attendees; and the list goes on, eternally.

"And don't even get them started on criminals-- the NRA has them thinking that it's a guaranteed that they're going to be raped and murdered in America-- unless they buy a gun and pay their NRA membership."

Wrongo! Again. Never mind the fact that the NRA has proven itself all-too willing to bargain with those who would take away our 2nd Amendment rights, tossing around those rights like so many poker chips in a game of gun-monopoly. (They do appear to be on the mend, however.) If the NRA has anyone convinced they'll be "raped and murdered in America," it must be the ASSa9 guys; I don't know anyone who lives with such fear---especially if they own a gun, practice with it on at least a semi-regular basis, and keep it handy.

Hold on, friends, because this is where it gets really good, and, frankly, where it becomes so painfully apparent that the only person who could've written this is junior-higher (or an elementary school student).

"And so they don't see the real solutions to gun violence. Create laws that keep guns out of the hands of criminals."

Of course! Why the heck didn't anyone think of that before?! Laws! Just like the laws that keep drugs off the streets; laws that keep gangs from congealing in the inner cities, like so much effluent clogging the sewers; laws that keep people from witholding as many of their precious hard-earned dollars out the government's greedy little sticky fingers; laws that keep illegal immigrants on their side of the our (seemingly non-existent) borders; and so on an so forth.

He/She wraps it up with a few words of encouragement to their sheeple, and one last bit of not-so sage advice: "Don't cower in the corner thinking your .45 is the only thing between you and a horrible death."................ahhh, well.......unless you actually are cowering in a corner, staring through tears at that precious .45 in your trembling hand, praying to God that you won't have to use it to prevent your and your little daughter's "horrible death." (at which time, please, feel free to point it in the direction of the attacker and pull the trigger, over and over, until the attacker is lying in a pool of his own foul blood....dead....with our blessings)

Peace be on you, brothers, sisters and friends.
Keep your powder dry and your gun loaded,

Jefferson

An open letter to ASSa9.com

After receiving today's ASSa9.com "WEEKEND UPDATE" re. the wonderful governor of Indiana's push to allow firearms in state parks, and hearing yet another idiot screaming about how it'll be the old west, shoot 'em up bang bang, all over again, well, I just really felt a calling to try and help them pull their pointy little heads out of their dumb asses.

To wit:

Dear ASSa9 Guys,

The "dangerous" people (i.e. law-abiding citizens with firearms) in the state parks are not the ones who belong to NRA and GOA; they are the gang-bangers, drunks, and speed-freaks; people who, regardless of how many stupid rules and regulations you post up on a sign, will bring their guns into the park anyway, leaving those of you unarmed fools at a substantial disadvantage, when the shootin' starts, that is. I mean, it’s like global warming, even if we knew for sure where to start, who knows if even our great grandchildren would see any change in their lifetimes. I mean, without completely razing the whole bureaucratically entrenched clusterfuck in Washington, what difference will it make whether or not a few million people are ‘allowed’ to own guns?”

“Or whether or not they take 57% or 63% of the fruits of our labor?”

“Exactly.”

“Maybe Ayn Rand was right.”

“Just let ‘em have the reins?”

“Exactly.”

“Let ‘em run it into the ground.”

“Full speed ahead.”

“So you think there’s no turning the ship around?”

“Actually, I think the more apropos metaphor is a train, and the tracks are laid.”

“Not even possible to turn it around?”

“Exactly.”

“All hope is lost.”

“Hope is never lost. We can always destroy the tracks.”

He stands up and shakes his head, casts a sidelong glance toward the bedroom window, wondering if he was only hearing this inner dialogue, or if he was actually talking to himself. Behind the bedroom window his wife snoozes happily. The thought of losing all he’s worked for these last 22 years feels like a ships anchor chained to his neck and sucked firmly into the muddy ocean bottom.

He stretches, and twists his torso. He bobs up and down on his tip-toes, stretching the night's rigor mortis out of his calves, and he breathes in a lungful of the early morning chill, anticipating the deliciously summer-warm crystal-clear pool water flowing across his skin. He leans over and grabs his knees once more, shaking off the frustrating dialogue from his shoulders a the day’s more immediate needs and wants begin to flood in, demanding his attention. His muscles tense and he launches, his arms reaching out toward an unsure future, and dives into yet another day.

Once again.

Ute Studenberg

Here you go, Congressman, this is how real men deal with the utter disgrace you've brought down on yourself, your family, your party, your countrymen, and men in general.

Ritual hara kiri

Congressman Resigns Over E-Mails to Page

Now, if this guy---Republican Representative Mark Foley from Florida---doesn't commit hara kiri (hari kari), then the Republican party has lost all credibility. Because there really is no excuse for the crimes perpetrated against the good (tax-paying) citizens of The People's Republic of Kalifornia; where our "public servants" do their darnedest to emulate the hilariously inept policies of those swinish scoundrels of Orwell's Animal Farm: i.e. spend more than you can possibly pay for.

To the tune of ONE-POINT-THREE (get this) T-R-I-L-L-I-O-N DOLLARS.

$1,300,000,000,000.00

or, if that's a bit much for your brain to process, as it is mine, try this on for size:

$130,000.00

per current Kalifornia taxpayer

Yes, in what should be considered the capital crime of High Ineptitude in Public Office (punishable by death by firing squad), the various Kalifornia politicals and governmentals have, over the last 80-or-so years, and knowing full well that there was no way in which to guarantee funding.......nevertheless.........guaranteed funding...........for pensions, for medical plans, for dental plans, and for all manner of various other percs. No, not just for their own greedy selves but for hundreds of thousands of public employees; from the lowliest of Lawmaker-swine all the way up to---one of the few positions that actually provides any real services for us Kalifornians---garbage men.

Nor shall any tears be shed for the bastards (and bastardettes) as the vermin cry "Unfair, unfair! To such sniveling grovellations our reply must be firm: "Then why on earth would you condemn your children and grandchildren and their grandchildren to a horrible future of indentured servitude; which WILL be required to pay for services which YOU guaranteed without so much as even pencilling out the long-term costs? (And, oh yeah, by the way, all we have left is Slim Price brand for those of you who feel the need for a last smoke. We couldn't afford the $275-per-pack cigarette tax. So sorry.)

"But, but, but," they'll inevitably plead, "we thought the next legislature would be able to fix---"

"Blindfolds, anyone?"

"But, but, my prof at Berkeley said that in The Communist Manifes---"

"READY!.........."

"But, but, WAIT! We can get it from the greedy Kalifornia businessme---

"AIM!.........."

"WAIT! Those bullets have LEAD in them. That's cruel and unusual punishm---"

"FIRE!"

A little harsh, you say? Nyet. It's what we (now) do to people in whom we have invested the power to make good, sound decisions for our future---after they sell us out for political power and personal gain. We didn't build their mansions and buy their boats and airplanes and fill their portfolios with Microsoft and Pepsi stocks only to have them put us in leg irons for the foreseeable future, and beyond. Think of it as a slave revolt.

So we tighten the collective belt, you say, bite the bullet, buckle down, and otherwise begin the long and uncomfortable job of cleaning up this unconscionable mess they've left us. Well, sadly, it ain't that easy, folks, even if there were even so much as an ice-cube's chance in hell that Kalifornia lawmakers were even remotely capable of changing their treacherous ways. No, it's a sad, slow death by strangulation for us Kalifornians (and pretty much everyone else in the US, too), for there is no way on earth that this debt will EVER be paid off. And, even if it could be paid off, in the meantime our public infrastructure will continue to crumble for lack of funding, as our tax-dollars go increasingly toward the ever-mounting "debt service." Roads become deadly potholed nightmares; hospitals close their doors to the poor victims of those potholed nightmares; piers fall into the ocean; airports close; police officers, after being downsized, and with no marketable skills, use the only skill they have (thugging) in order to feed their babies; while those cops who do manage to hang on to their jobs, after accepting the necessary 60% cut in pay, begin shaking down the people who they're supposed to be protecting (think Tony Soprano). (No, I do not believe that police-people are any worse, nor better, than the average Joe. However, as someone far wiser than I once said: "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.")

If you think this is just some bible-toting redneck's post-liberalyptic delusions, well, think again---after first taking a good look at Russia. Because there, in that once-believed-to-be-grand, yet pathetically naive experiment with socialism (regardless of what those pointy-headed men & women in the UC mis-educational sytem told you) the laws of nature (i.e. Newton, thermodynamics, Einstein, economics, simple arithmetic, The Golden Rule, etc) were somehow declared null and void. And now, almost twenty years after throwing in the towel on their eighty years of tinkering and twisting-of-the-dials of their massive and unpredictably tempermental economic machine; and even after building twenty thousand miles of metaphorical dikes to hold back the ever-rising tide of reality which surrounded their self-imposed isolation, they are paying the terrible price for their pseudo-intellectual insolence. Slavery.

And we're not too far behind them.

But, though cold comfort it will be---demanding that the people who are responsible for our enslavement pay for their crimes---it's at least a beginning. And hopefully a deterrent---to future generations of lawmakers who fail to carefully consider the long-term consequences of meddling with the lives of their neighbors. And their neighbors' children. And their grandchildren.

If nothing else, it might at least get them to do the math.

Your brother in insurrection,

Jefferson

Voted most important invention in the past 2000 years.

Coming Out Of The Closet

No, I'm not gay. Sorry.
Nor am I a drug user.

On second thought, maybe I should have called it, Coming Out Of The Gun Closet, because, and I'll be the first to admit, I am a bona fide ballist-o-phile. Or, as those of you who consider yourselves to be sensible, progressive-thinking, enlightened citizens of the modern world might call me, "a certifiable gun-nut." Guilty as charged. Anyway, over the past three years, since catching this fever they call Gun Lust, and while being held tightly in the clutches of this ever-broadening obsession with social liberty and personal freedom, I've come to understand a few things:

1) Little by little my rights with regards to self-defense (defense from the entire spectrum of criminal behavior, from the lowliest of thugs all the way up to that most insidious of thuggery: the incessant chipping away at the 2nd amendment) are falling under the constant onslaught by the various city, county, state & federal bureaucracies which have taken it upon themselves to act as society's nannies (when all that is really required are a couple of part-time maids).

2) And, along with our right to a means of self-defense, our right to privacy in our homes and persons, our right to keep and use as we see fit the fruits of our labors, our right to self-medicate (and the list goes on and on)---all these rights are vanishing at an astonishing rate. Yet we simply watch them disappear.

3) The only difference between the end results of the failed policies of Republicans and Democrats is that it seems as though Democrats are in a slightly bigger hurry to completely destroy the last vestiges freedom---or at least it used to seem that way, before our current Bush began his grand assault on the constitution and the bill of rights, and the world.

4) Americans, on the whole, following the lead of our European cousins, have given up entirely the concept of individual sovereignty and personal freedom; trading those once-dear concepts for the now-holy "greater good." Unfortunately this greater good is neither; and the blind pursuit of this utopian concept has created not only the "entitlment" underclass which now exists throughout the western world, but it has doomed the increasingly overburdened middle-class to picking up the bill for this hopeless, helpless and sadly brainwashed Entitlement underclass.

5) There appears to be no help in sight, as those responsible for "fixing" society's problems simply pile one failed social experiment atop the last in a never-ending succession of grand blunders. And with regards to 2nd Amendment issues: regardless of who gains the upperhand over the next few voting cycles, the "middle of the road" Republicans, ever willing to bargain away ANYTHING in the never-ending Republican VS Democrat celebrity death match, have already given away too much to ever stem the outgoing tide of 2nd Amendment rights.

6) There is no better time than the present to, as they say, take the bull by the horns.

The unlikely conclusion:
Though it certainly sounds, even to me, ludicrously counterintuitive, I believe that our last best hope for freedom, here in this once-great collection of independent states, will be in the power of coalition. A gridlock-coalition of strange bedfellows, as it were. This gridlock-coalition will, at least in the beginning, be made of of gun nuts, drug-users and queers. The three most trampled upon sectors of society.
Granted: queers seem to be on a politically-correct trajectory toward almost complete social acceptance---normalization in drug-speak. But this very well may be a short-lived phenomenon, reversing itself completely once the religious right secures its death grip on Washington. Obviously, the foundations of this unlikely menage a trois, so to speak, will be based less on mutual respect for each other's mutually distateful proclivities, and more on the neolithic political expedient: my enemy's enemy is my friend---that and mutual support.

i.e. You don't mess with my guns, I won't mess with your drugs and crotchless panties. I'll even go so far as to use my barrel-of-a-gun political power to defend you against those social-meddlers who would have you jailed and/or castrated for your actions; and I expect you to do likewise, using any and all your resources in my defense.

Hopefully, as our coalition gains momentum, other marginalized groups will jump on board and we can keep building momentum until we reach that magical point of critical mass, at which point we shall cease to be satisfied with gridlock and begin to roll over those who seek to control every aspect of our lives.

Sincerely,

Jefferson
